The feel is very comfortable and feels like a second skin. I find that the coat is warm and comfortable to -25C. Heat retention starts failing from the waist up but not serious. The coat I think would protect me to -40C but may not be comfy. From a temperature point of view the comfort in fit reduces the ability to wear say my thick wool sweater. The thick sweater could make the coat comfortable at -40C. The coat fits best with a light shirt. Loosening the fit to accommodate a sweater would increase leakage up from the waist making failure quicker but allowing the adding of the sweater to extend the extreme cold protection. So if you live in northern U.S. to southern Canada getting a customized fit would be ideal. If you live in Greenland or Siberia a larger size would be needed to allow layering, you might also want to add some shearling pants. The hood and collar design is almost perfect. When the collar and hood are up your cheeks and face are protected (no head wear needed) with only a tip of the nose failure. The hood strings have a slide and grab feature keeping the hood tight to head, you can then tie the strings and close the collar tighter. The strings are difficult to tie (especially if it’s -40). Some added quick fastener would make this better; but this is being extremely picky. This cost is very fashionable and delivers a high level performance two things that rarely come together. I get lots of nice coat compliments.Really great! Warm and well-made!
Butter soft leather, very warm. I like that the hood is removable. Great coat, I recommend it.
